The new Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue, has a new Tom Selleck replacement, which actually makes the show more exciting. The upcoming show will follow Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan as he moves from New York City to Boston to continue his career in law enforcement. While the rest of the original cast will stay behind now that Blue Bloods season 14 and the series itself has wrapped, Boston Blue will still follow many of the same aspects that made Blue Bloods so beloved.
After a wonderful run, Blue Bloods finally ended after CBS unexpectedly canceled it, signaling there would be no Blue Bloods season 15. Fortunately, it is not the end of the Reagan family’s stories, as the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue will still follow Danny’s life and likely feature cameos or references to his family back in New York. With the new show comes one great update, and it has all to do with the patriarch of the new Boston police family Danny finds himself working alongside.
Blue Bloods Spinoff Cast’s Ernie Hudson As The New Family Patriarch In Danny’s Boston Show
Hudson Will Play Reverend Peters
While Tom Selleck’s role as Frank Reagan will be sorely missed in Boston Blue, there will be an equally excellent patriarch taking his place. According to Deadline, Boston Blue will star Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters, a Baptist church pastor. Peters will not only be a valued member of the community in Boston, but he will also be the father of Danny’s new Boston partner, Detective Lena Silver, played by Sonequa Martin-Green. Moreover, Peters will be the head of a major and well-respected family in Boston, much like the Reagan family’s position in Blue Bloods.
