Will Trent and The Rookie debuted their new seasons earlier this month, but fans are wondering why the two ABC hit TV shows were held until 2025, versus debuting in the Fall of 2024.
We learned the reason why a few months back…and though it might have been upsetting for fans to wait, it actually is a positive!
Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group, told TV Line a few months ago, “The Rookie and Will Trent are two of the cornerstones of our schedule. The Rookie is an amazing story, where at this point in its life cycle [six seasons in] it continues to grow. We see not just the current season but past seasons drive a tremendous amount of viewing on Hulu.”
Craig continued, “They’re going to go straight through and that kind of momentum of original episodes week-in and week-out is just a very powerful engine for both of these shows.”
What that means is, each of the shows will have 18 episode seasons that will run straight through May 2025 with no reruns!
