Fans can hardly contain their excitement for Donnie Wahlberg’s Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue. While the series is confirmed for CBS later this fall, it’s remained unclear who will appear in the spin-off. So when Donnie posted a selfie from filming the first episode on Instagram, it’s no surprise fans were thrilled to see not one but two familiar faces.
“Reunited and [it] feels so good,” Donnie captioned the photo of himself and Blue Bloods co-star Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan). “So excited to have my dear friend, and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan, join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue! She’ll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season! More fun (and surprises) to come. Let’s go!”
Bridget is equally as thrilled for this moment in television history. “So excited to be part of this old and new family,” she exclaimed in Donnie’s comments section. Immediately, loyal Blue Bloods fans followed suit. “Aww this makes me so happy,” one fan commented. “Oh, now this is getting good,” another Instagrammer chimed in. “That’s awesome! Keep bringing your family over,” someone else replied. “Legendary duo,” actor Will Hochman (Joe Hill) added to the conversation, spurring pleas for his cameo, too.Boston Blue will follow Danny Reagan on his relocation to Boston, along with his transition to working for the Boston Police Department. According to the show’s tagline, Danny will partner with Detective Lena Peters, the oldest daughter of a notable Boston law enforcement family. The show premieres Friday, October 11, on CBS. Here’s hoping we get confirmation of even more Blue Bloods crossovers in the meantime.
