New Blue Bloods video peels back the Curtain on the Reagans’ most powerful moments

Blue Bloods had a long and storied run on network TV, and one of the most iconic elements of the show focused on the Reagan family dinners, which often concluded episodes. This shone a spotlight on one of the core themes of the series, which was family

Despite being a cop show, Blue Bloods has heavy family themes at its core. The Reagans are a close-knit family bonded by blood and a dedication to their jobs. The Reagan dinners are a window into the family dynamics between them, but a new video has exposed one of the harshest truths about these dinners.

Per the Ion Television’s TikTok account, a video clip showed a compilation of eating clips from the Reagan family dinners. The video has a caption: ‘POV: You’ve seen enough TV dinners to spot all the fake eating tricks,’ and then it shows many of the fake eating tricks in the series.

What This Means For Blue Bloods’ Fake Eating
It Is A Pretty Common Technique

A show as long-running as Blue Bloods will have adopted plenty of filming techniques behind the scenes in order to make production easier, smoother, and more stress-free. Fake eating is something that would have played a prominent role in the filming process because of how many dinner scenes in Blue Bloods.

Because of this, the actors had to find ways to mix things up now and again, as it adds to the authenticity. Interestingly, the video clips show the range of different techniques used by the Blue Bloods cast. Unfortunately, some of them may have already defaulted to certain tricks.
In any case, the point of these dinner scenes isn’t actually the eating. Instead, it’s the conversations that the family has as a way to reconnect with each other after working hard as part of the law enforcement organizations in New York.

Our Take On Blue Bloods BTS
There Are Likely To Have Been Lots Of Tricks Used During Filming

Blue Bloods ran almost 300 episodes, so there are bound to have been a lot of BTS techniques that the show used to make filming run more smoothly. Things like fake eating are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this. With the show mainly consumed now in reruns and streaming, these patterns are more easily recognizable.

While there may have been some occasions in which the actors did actually eat the food during shoots, the vast majority of the time, they would have been pretending to eat, or the camera cuts away strategically just before. This is a particular technique that will most likely be replicated in spinoff show Boston Blue, particularly if the Reagan dinners continue.
