Long-time Coronation Street favourite Jack P. Shepherd has finally addressed fan concerns over his future on the cobbles, following his recent appearance on Celebrity Big Brother. Having played David Platt for an impressive 25 years, his unexpected venture into reality  TV sparked rumours that he might be gearing up for an emotional soap exit—but viewers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Speaking on his On The Sofa podcast alongside co-stars Colson Smith and Ben Price, Jack made it crystal clear: he’s not planning to leave Weatherfield anytime soon. In fact, he sees himself staying put for the long haul—possibly another 25 years—so long as the Platt family remains central to Corrie storylines and he’s still enjoying the creative process with familiar faces.

When asked if he ever pictures life beyond the show, Jack responded with characteristic bluntness, saying he doesn’t think that far ahead. “I don’t even think about tomorrow,” he said. “There’s always the chance I might just die tomorrow.” His honest, darkly humorous take shows he’s still deeply grounded in the role that made him a household name.

Jack’s ongoing commitment comes as welcome news to fans, especially with his character David Platt still in the thick of gripping storylines, including the fallout from a massive house fire and his emotional spiral after Paul Foreman’s tragic death. Adding to the excitement, Jack has landed two British Soap Award nominations this year—for Best Leading Performer and Best Comedy Performance—solidifying his place as one of the show’s most celebrated talents.
