Blue Bloods Star Makes Unexpected Appearance at Carrie Underwood’s Final Vegas Show

Country superstar Carrie Underwood was in for a surprise at her final Las Vegas residency performance when Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg and his wife Jenny McCarthy stopped by to enjoy the show and congratulate the American Idolnew judge backstage.

“Thank you @carrieunderwood for an epic night. Your amazing talent leaves us in awe every time. ❤️,” wrote McCarthy on an Instagram photo of the three stars backstage with their arms around each other.

The comments were full of fans who were clamoring for a New Kids on the Block collaboration between Underwood, Wahlberg and his former bandmates.

“Invite her for a collab with NKOTB. Hope you both had a great time.❤️,” wrote one fan.

“Favourite people. Looking 🔥❤️,” added another fan.

A third fan wrote, “I love that Carrie love Metal, what a Queen! Jenny & Carrie, absolute Queens!!”

“Well Jesus take the wheel it’s my fave 3!” cracked another fan.Although Blue Bloods ended its 14-season run in December 2024, star Wahlberg has signed on for a spinoff series titled Boston Blue (working title), which is set to premiere in the 2025-26 TV season.On the spinoff, Wahlberg will reprise his role of New York Police Department officer Danny Reagan, who is now moving to Boston after accepting a position with the Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with Det. Lena Peters (not yet cast), who is also part of a “prominent law enforcement family,” according to the CBS press release.

According to Deadline, the script for Boston Blue started as a completely unrelated TV series called Jamaica Plain, named after a neighborhood in Boston. That series was meant to follow a law enforcement family in Boston whose eldest daughter (Peters) is partnered with a transfer from Los Angeles. Since finding a way to continue the Blue Bloods universe was a “priority” at CBS, executives thought they could turn Jamaica Plain into a spinoff, especially given Wahlberg’s “deep ties” to Boston, the city where he grew up.
